Westminster's Open Space program, established in 1985, was created to enhance community quality of life by preserving natural areas. Residents voted to tax themselves for land acquisition, leading to the protection of nearly 3,800 acres today. This initiative benefits both the environment and local property values, reflecting community dedication for future generations.

New Bald Eagle Nesting Platform Installed at Standley Lake
Standing over 40 feet tall with excellent views of the western side of the park, the nesting platform provides a stable place for the eagles to build a nest that is more resilient to the high winds that have caused their nest to fail repeatedly over the past few years.

Connecting Community and Nature
It was during his 6th grade year at Colorado STEM Academy in 2017, that the City of Westminster approached Ronan’s class to help bring to life an innovative and creative plan. The goal was to create a playground that provided children of all ages and backgrounds with equitable access to the great outdoors in Historic Westminster.
