As the Fourth of July holiday approaches, the City of Westminster is encouraging residents to help reduce wildfire risk by following Adams and Jefferson Counties’ stage 2 fire restrictions.
Due to weather conditions and in alignment with the Counties’ restrictions, the Westminster Fire Department enacted Stage 2 Fire Restrictions for the city on Monday, July 1. All fireworks are prohibited, including those that were previously listed as permissible, including sparklers, fountains, and ground spinners. Use of charcoal grills and wood-burning fire pits are also prohibited under stage 2 restrictions.
Fire restrictions will be reviewed daily and could change depending on the weather conditions. For the latest information on county fire restrictions, visit the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Adams County Sheriff’s Office websites.
By choosing not to use personal fireworks, residents can help protect their neighborhoods, preserve emergency resources, and reduce the risk of wildfires.
The City’s Fourth of July Celebration and Other Professional Fireworks Shows Will Continue
These county restrictions do not apply to professionally organized fireworks displays conducted under approved permits and safety requirements.
Westminster’s Fourth of July celebration and professional fireworks show at City Park will proceed as planned, weather permitting. Residents are encouraged to celebrate Independence Day by attending organized community events rather than using personal fireworks.
Celebrate Safely
Residents can help keep Westminster safe by:
- Refraining from using personal fireworks.
- Following all current county fire restrictions.
- Properly disposing of smoking materials.
- Avoiding activities that could create sparks in dry vegetation.
The City appreciates our community’s cooperation and commitment to helping reduce the risk of wildfiresr.
