Big changes are underway in the Sheridan Green neighborhood. Deconstruction has officially started at the former Sheridan Green Elementary School site, located at 109th Avenue and Harlan Street. Crews will be working to safely remove the building over the next four to six weeks, making way for a major expansion of neighboring Stratford Park.
Once the expansion is complete, Stratford Park will double in size from six to 12 acres and feature exciting new amenities including shaded gathering areas, modern play structures, multipurpose courts, and more. The project reflects the community’s vision for a vibrant, inclusive public space, shaped through a series of open houses and Neighborhood Advisory Group meetings held throughout 2024.

Deconstruction Begins
Utilities disconnected and deconstruction work begins.
The City of Westminster acquired the site in 2023 after the school’s closure and has since worked closely with residents to ensure the redevelopment meets local needs. In support of this shared vision, City Council allocated $3.7 million to remove the school and expand the park.
We’re grateful to everyone who attended the Deconstruction & Park Expansion Kickoff Celebration in May. For those who missed out on taking home a commemorative school brick, more may be available during the deconstruction phase and will be announced.
Stay tuned for continued updates as Stratford Park transforms into a larger, more dynamic space for the entire community to enjoy. Click here for updates.
