On Sunday, March 23, Mayor Nancy McNally, alongside several Councillors and Westminster City staff, gathered with community members at the annual St. Baldrick’s Day head-shaving event. The effort encourages participants to shave their heads to show support for children fighting cancer while raising money to fund childhood cancer research.
The City of Westminster event, including participants and their donors, has raised a total of over $237,000 to help fund childhood cancer research over the years since it began.

In remarks given to the attendees, Westminster Mayor Nancy McNally mentioned how her family has been directly impacted by both the hardships of cancer and the generosity of our community.
“This is one of the few organizations that does research specific for kids,” McNally said. “And I can’t tell you, having lived that for seven and a half years, how important that is.”
Participants who got their heads shaved in support of the foundation included City staff, residents, and youth from Westminster. The event was graciously hosted once again by local business Yacht Club Salon.
This year’s event marks the 25th year of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s efforts to fund research for childhood cancers.
There is still time to donate and help Westminster meet its 2025 St. Baldrick’s fundraising goal of $20,000. To donate, visit https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/8025/2025.
