Beginning this week, Westminster residents may receive a text message from a 303 or 720 area code inviting them to participate in a poll. It is part of the City’s effort to engage residents on Westminster’s long-term funding needs for neighborhood streets and emergency services.
This text will feature the City of Westminster logo and will invite you to take the 12-minute poll about funding for neighborhood street repairs and emergency services.
On June 2, Westminster City Council directed City staff to continue a conversation with the community about how to address two growing challenges:
- The City’s ability to repair and maintain our streets to the level that our residents expect has declined due to the rapidly rising cost of concrete, asphalt, and other materials. At our current rate, the quality of our streets will continue to drop over the next 10 years.
- The City’s need to build new fire stations in order to close service gaps. Without the necessary investments, Fire and emergency medical personnel may not be able to reach a victim within six minutes – which is the window between life and death.
The City is actively exploring solutions, including doing everything we can with existing resources and evaluating potential new funding sources—with community input guiding every step.
If you receive the text, we encourage you to participate. Your feedback will help City Council understand resident priorities as options are developed.
A City Council Town Hall is also scheduled for Thursday, July 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. at West View Recreation Center (10747 W. 108th Ave.) to ensure all residents are heard.
