Fiber optic internet service installation

Fiber Installation in Westminster

More Westminster residents are taking advantage of new high-speed fiber optic internet service available in our community. Westminster is excited to have agreements with three different providers for our residents to choose from: Google Fiber, Metronet, and Intrepid. You may notice these groups performing construction around the city as they work to install their fiber optic lines in-ground. Below is more information on where installations are occurring and how to get in touch with the providers to resolve concerns related to active construction.

Where are installations occurring?

Since citywide construction started in 2024, the three fiber companies have installed more than 1.5 million feet of conduit in Westminster. As of fall 2025, Google Fiber has installed approximately 368,000 feet, Intrepid has installed approximately 850,000 feet, and Metronet has installed approximately 324,000 feet. For locations on where each fiber network is under construction and for locations where they have a pending permit under review, please visit the City’s Fiber Permit Online Map.

How to report concerns related to installations

The City’s agreements with Google Fiber, Metronet, and Intrepid outline specific communications and property restoration requirements that can be enforced as part of an issued Internet Right-of-Way permit. Typically, installation work is permitted on a neighborhood basis.

When a resident has a question or concern related to fiber installation construction, the fastest way to get a response and a resolution is to submit a work order ticket directly to the fiber company. This allows the fiber company to track and dispatch the appropriate person or contractor to each complaint. Please use the step-by-step guide below for submitting a concern.

  1. Submit a request with the fiber company directly. The fiber companies maintain a 24/7 hotline. Phone numbers and links to their online request forms are below.
  1. Work directly with the fiber company. The fiber company is required to respond to requests as soon as possible and within 24 hours. Once you receive a response from the fiber company, the actual resolution may take more time. Working directly with the fiber company is the fastest and most efficient way to answer questions or resolve the complaint.
  1. If you do not receive a response from the fiber company after 24 hours, email the City’s Engineering Team or call 303-658-2120. An engineering staff member will respond within 48 hours, or sooner, and follow up to ensure the fiber company provides a response to the request.

Please note the City is considered a “safety net” in case the fiber company is not responsive or does not comply with the agreement’s communication and property restoration requirements. The enforcement capabilities of the City to ensure the requirements are upheld include the ability to issue a stop work order until the permit is in compliance and a performance bond guaranteeing the work meets City standards.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as construction continues on these fiber installations. The City is a leader among the Front Range in offering more high-speed internet options for our residents, and we are dedicated to creating a more digitally advanced and connected community.
