Honoring Former Westminster Mayor George Hovorka
The City of Westminster remembers and honors former Mayor George Hovorka, who passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022. Mr. Hovorka first joined Westminster’s City Council in 1973 where he served the community as a councillor for a decade. In 1983, Hovorka was elected mayor, a position he held for 8 years before ending his term in 1991. Hovorka then spent an additional two years as a councillor, closing out his public service at City Hall in 1993.

For the 19th year, the City has achieved a top-ten ranking nationwide in the Center for Digital Government’s Digital Cities Survey. The survey recognizes the efforts of cities across the U.S. to improve and implement technology programs and plans for staff and residents.

Viva Via: Riding Along with Westminster’s New Free Transportation Service
Gayle and Dolores are making the most of Westminster’s new partnership with Via Mobility Services, a program that offers Westminster residents a free ride within 15 miles of their homes. Residents age 60 and older, or residents experiencing short- or long-term disabilities are eligible for the program, and can take trips for almost any purpose, including doctor’s appointments, recreational activities, seeing friends, or in Gayle and Dolores’ case, a grocery run.
