Through the first 100 days in office, Westminster Mayor Claire Carmelia will participate in world-class executive leadership workshops and develop tools to pursue strategic goals, build effective teams, and serve residents.
Westminster, CO – December 22, 2025 – Mayor Carmelia joins a prestigious cohort of 34 newly-elected U.S. mayors for the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University’s Program for New Mayors: First 100 Days, delivered in collaboration with Bloomberg Philanthropies, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School.
“I am honored to be selected to join the esteemed Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard Program for New Mayors: First 100 Days,” said Mayor Carmelia. “Learning alongside and building connections to other U.S. mayors, as well as the opportunity to learn from nationally renowned leaders with experience in complex cities, will equip me with invaluable skills from coalition building to financial expertise to public safety. I will apply these insights directly to strengthen our city, foster collaboration, and deliver innovative solutions to tackle the affordability challenge and improve the lives of our residents.”
Collectively representing 6.7 million U.S. residents in 23 states, the selected mayors are convening at Harvard University for an immersive two-day learning experience at no cost to their respective communities. The program is designed as a forum for exchanging innovative ideas and approaches to community leadership. Aided by the Bloomberg Center for Cities’ global network of mayors, the program shares expert voices, promotes collaboration, and equips participants with practical tools to advance their most important priorities as they begin their terms.
Participating mayors have adopted leadership practices from the program curriculum to use time effectively while balancing competing priorities, set and advance key strategic goals, manage unexpected crises while remaining focused on critical objectives, and foster a collaborative culture amongst City staff in service of our residents’ needs.
The Program for New Mayors is housed at the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University, which serves a global community committed to improving public management, leadership, and governance. The Center’s cross-Harvard collaboration unites expertise focused on cities across disciplines and schools to produce research, train leaders, and develop resources for global use. The Center is designed to have practical impact on the future of cities, where more than half of the world’s people now live, by informing and inspiring local government leaders, scholars, students, and others who work to improve the lives of residents around the world.
